WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE FREESKI CAMPS?

Coaching will cover slopestyle, halfpipe, general skiing technique, trampolining and strength and conditioning. There will also be daily video analysis, nutrition and ski equipment educational lessons.

Cervinia has many afternoon activities to offer which we will also have time for.

  • Rob Machon
    Rob MachonBritish Freeski Camps Coach

    Rob Machon, 22 years old grew up skiing at Sheffield Ski Village with the Sharks Ski Club. Learning racing and freestyle gave him the technical ability to become a 3 time British Championship medalist in Halfpipe and Slopestyle. Rob has spent several seasons with US coach Elana Chase who developed him with the best athletes in the world, which helped him get onto the GB Development Team for Halfpipe.

    Rob has just graduated from Leeds Met University with a 1st class BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Coaching. Throughout his degree Rob focused his studies specifically on freestyle skiing covering long term athlete development, performance analysis, holistic development and biomechanics.

  • James Webb
    James WebbBritish Freeski Camps Coach

    Webbo” is one of the best known riders on the British Freestyle Ski scene.  Competing in all disciplines James can be spotted in the Big Air, Slopestyle and Half Pipe – proving himself a good all-rounder on the slopes.

    James based himself in Breckenridge Colorado for the early part of 2013 before returning to Europe for the British Champs.

    Freestyle skiing is on a major growth path and James is one of the new generation keeping it real at both the dry slope and during his winter seasons in the mountains.

    Becky BennettBritish Freeski Camps Coach

    Professional Freeskier and coach
    D.O.B: 11/05/1986

    Becky started skiing at the age of 14 at Sheffield dry ski slope. She got hooked to the sport straight away and joined the local ski club ‘Sharks’. She was inspired by the freestyle park and joined in with regular freestyle training in halfpipe, big air and moguls.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

Arriving Saturday

Skiing will be from Sunday to Friday with Wednesday being a day off. Please note the day off may be moved if we incur a bad weather day

Skiing is from 8.30am to 1pm

Afternoon activities starting 3pm will vary; strength and conditioning, trampolining, local activities

Depart following Saturday

 

TRAVEL TO CERVINIA

We recommend flying to Geneva Airport as a transfer will be available. The transfer will depart Geneva between 12-1pm so please book a flight arriving in the morning to suit this departure time. For the return journey, the transfer will depart Cervinia between 9-10am to arrive in to Geneva approx 3 hours later – please arrange for a late afternoon/early evening flight departure no earlier than 2.30 at the earliest.

If you are travelling by car, Cervinia is easy to reach, served by the A5 Torino-Aosta motorway. Take the Châtillon/Saint-Vincent exit and head along the regional road to Cervinia for 28 km. There is plenty free car parking in Cervinia.

 

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation in Cervinia is Half Board (breakfast and evening meal) at Furggen Hotel 3*or the Mon Reve Hotel 3*. Breakfast is served at the hotel. Dinner is at Bricole Restaurant approximately 10 meters down from the hotel.

All rooms are en-suite and equipped with TV and wireless internet.

BRITISH FREESKI CAMP RULES AND REGULATIONS

1 – The coaches expect you to stick to a healthy diet

2 – Be on time

3 – Respect hotel staff

4 – Respect the coaches and support staff

5 – Strictly no drugs; caught with or using drugs will be excluded with immediate effect

6 – Strictly no alcohol for anyone under 18; anyone caught with alcohol or drinking alcohol will be excluded with immediate effect

7 – Look after and be responsible for your own belongings and equipment

8 – Attend all the activities that the coaches set for you daily

9 – Keep hotel rooms tidy

10 – No bullying of any type or form; anyone involved in any type of bullying will be excluded with immediate effect

The coaches will NOT tolerate any bad behavior and anyone caught breaking the rules will be excluded from the camps with immediate effect.

Like in any ski resort, there are distractions in the evenings, but we insist that if you attend this camp, you respect the rules that the coaches set for you and to take training seriously. This will mean having early nights and getting rest for the following day!
